WiFi QR code — all devices and encryption types

Allow guests to join your WiFi network with a single camera scan — zero typed passwords.

A WiFi QR code lets a guest join your network by pointing a camera at a card instead of asking you to read a fifteen-character password out loud, letter by letter, twice.

Creating a WiFi QR code

  1. 1Click Create and choose QR Code.
  2. 2Select WiFi Network.
  3. 3Enter the Network Name (SSID) exactly as it appears on your router — it's case-sensitive, so "OfficeWiFi" and "officewifi" are different networks as far as this is concerned.
  4. 4Enter the Password.
  5. 5Choose the Security type: WPA/WPA2 for almost every modern router, WEP only if you know that's specifically what yours uses, or None for an open network with no password.
  6. 6Click Create QR Code.

Which security type should you pick?

  • WPA/WPA2 — the default on virtually every router sold in the last decade. Use this unless you have a specific reason not to.
  • WEP — an older, weaker encryption standard still found on some legacy hardware. Only select it if you've confirmed that's what your router is actually running.
  • None — an open network with no password. Anyone who scans joins instantly, which is fine for a public café network and a bad idea for anything else.

Will it work on every device?

  • iOS 11+ — the Camera app recognises WiFi QR codes natively and prompts to join immediately
  • Android 10+ — same native support built into the Camera app
  • Android 8–9 — WiFi QR scanning wasn't consistently built in yet at this OS version, so some devices may need a separate scanner app to trigger the join prompt
  • Windows / macOS — laptops don't have a camera-driven QR flow tied into WiFi settings, so scanning shows the credentials as plain text for manual entry instead

A WiFi QR code makes your password scannable by anyone who points a camera at it, not just the guests you meant to invite. Don't post it somewhere the public can see it unsupervised — and for a guest network, consider a separate SSID with a password you rotate periodically rather than sharing your main network's credentials this way.

Because this is a dynamic code, changing your WiFi password doesn't mean reprinting the sign — update the password in your dashboard and the same printed code keeps working.
