Instead of choosing between an "iOS" QR code and an "Android" one, the App Store type detects which platform is scanning and sends each visitor to the right store automatically — one printed code, two correct destinations.
Setting it up
App Store is a Pro-plan QR type — you'll see a lock icon on it if you're on the Free plan.
- 1Click Create and choose QR Code.
- 2Select App Store from the type grid.
- 3Enter your iOS App Store URL (from apps.apple.com) and/or your Google Play Store URL (from play.google.com) — you don't need both.
- 4Optionally add your app's name and icon, used on the fallback landing page.
- 5Click Create QR Code.
How the smart redirect decides where to send people
The same way the analytics dashboard identifies a scanner's device (covered in the device breakdown guide), the redirect reads the User-Agent string sent by the scanning browser to work out the platform, then branches:
- iOS device — sent straight to your App Store listing
- Android device — sent straight to your Google Play listing
- Desktop or an unrecognised device — shown a simple landing page with both download buttons, since neither store link is the "right" one to force
Only launched on one platform so far? Enter just that store's URL — devices on the other platform will land on the fallback page showing whichever store you've actually set up, rather than a broken link to a store that doesn't exist.
